SEM: I'm in Love
Oh SEM…I’m in love. This is truly the future of tactical marketing. I say tactical because it is not the emotional experience that conceptual advertising communicates—instead it happens without being obvious. As a marketer, you just have to think creatively to take advantage of this 100% free resource! Use SEMrush to determine what keywords are driving traffic to your competitors and think about which ones they are missing or have very low scores. Then, write your content around that. Answer the question people are asking. Answer it better, with more (strategically named) images and content.
Search marketing meets the consumer halfway. Just like a kiss between two complacent partners. Don’t overreach, then you’re the only one in the relationship. Don’t stand still, then you’re the only one in the relationship. Put the answer out there. Hold back and let your inquiring audience come to you. Outbound marketing touts business benefits to passive eyes; lazily sit back waiting for something to grab their attention. With Search Engine Marketing, a user is ACTIVELY REACHING OUT to find something. You’re meeting them halfway. Nobody remembers anything unless they asked the question first, were genuinely interested and the claim wasn’t being pushed down their throat.
If you want to continue your journey to growing your search traffic, you can learn a ton from SEMrush Academy. (Hi Greg Gifford!) He’s the hip-looking dude who explains SEM really well and breaks it down into nibbles so you aren’t snoozing. You know what you’re getting with each title and nothing more, nothing less. Efficient and relevant. Exactly as SEM should be.
